I'm looking for a good, not too fancy, and not so expensive hair salon either, where I can just get highlights, nothing huge or anything.

I use Soon Beauty Lab www.soonbeautylab.com they have 2 locations one on the eastside and one on the west. They aer reasonably priced for NYC and do a nice job. If you don't mind traveling to Brooklyn I just discovered diva salon in brooklyn heights http://www.divasalonandspabh.com they are a lot cheaper do a great job and its a really quick trip from lower manhattan
